Additive Manufacturing
Building the future of flight, layer by layer
GKN Aerospace is at the forefront of additive manufacturing for aerospace, delivering flight-critical components across multiple aircraft and aero-engine platforms. Every day in our facilities we transform digital designs, layer by layer, into high-performance components. Through advanced technologies such as selective laser melting and laser metal deposition we shorten lead times, reduce waste and weight, and unlock entirely new design possibilities for lighter, more sustainable aerospace and defence solutions.
The key advantages
Shortened lead times
Shortened lead times
Bypassing traditional casting and forging supply chains compresses manufacturing timelines from weeks to days.
Reduced weight and cost
Reduced weight and cost
Consolidating complex assemblies into lightweight, single-piece structures lowers component weight and operational costs.
Optimal material efficiency
Optimal material efficiency
Depositing material precisely where it is needed significantly reduces raw material waste and associated production costs.
Total production control

Utilizing an integrated, in-house manufacturing route eliminates supplier hand-offs and ensures absolute certainty over delivery timelines.
Design freedom
Design freedom
Our unique combination of product knowledge, process control and additive system design enables entirely new component design possible.
Certified for flight-critical performance
GKN Aerospace delivers complex, flight critical additively manufactured components to the highest certification standards. Our AM parts are already flying on some of the world’s most advanced aircraft and engines. This includes the fan case mount ring for the Pratt & Whitney GTF engines powering the Airbus A220 and Embraer E2, as well as critical components for the F 35 fighter jet. By optimizing design and performance through additive manufacturing, we deliver lighter, stronger, and more efficient parts to our customers, reducing both material waste and fuel burn.
Pioneering material science and process innovation
We transform advanced alloys into certified flying components through cutting edge laser and digital process technologies. By mastering material behavior at a microscopic level, we engineer integrated complex components that were previously impossible to manufacture.
