Our People
Putting people first
We want to attract, retain and motivate the very best people to support our business now and in the future. To do this, we need to be a modern employer.
At GKN Aerospace, doing the right thing by our people means promoting a safe working environment, respecting the rights of others, developing our employees, encouraging a diverse workforce and building an environment where people feel comfortable speaking up if they see behaviour which is wrong.
This approach helps GKN Aerospace develop an outstanding team – recruiting the very best talent and creating a workforce of engaged colleagues around the world.

Doing the right thing
Employee wellbeing
We recognise the increasing importance of taking a holistic approach to employee wellness by protecting physical health, mental health and social wellbeing.
Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee shares best practice in supporting employees with mental health and wellbeing initiatives in each region. In conjunction with this, we have produced a Think Health e-brochure, highlighting areas such as self-care and providing information on support resources available to employees.
Employee engagement
At GKN Aerospace we believe that engaging all our employees is positive for both our people and our business, and key to our future success.
We aim to build high performing teams by understanding and improving the everyday work experience for all of our people.
We recognise the importance of engaging with our employees in a meaningful way to support their development and for us to deliver better business performance. We regularly consult with employees across GKN Aerospace.
We have enhanced our communications with representative bodies too, increasing contact with works councils and other consultative bodies throughout the year.
Speaking up
We believe in speaking up when we see behaviour which is wrong.
We actively promote the importance of our confidential employee disclosure hotline, available to all employees who can raise concerns in their own languages, anonymously if they prefer. It is hosted by an external, independent company and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Matters reported are investigated and feedback is always provided to the caller.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
As a global engineering company, innovation is what differentiates us from our competitors and is central to our success.
A balance of cultures, ethnicities and genders is essential to this - bringing individual and unique perspectives to spark originality, imagination and creativeness in our teams around the world.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our employees is GKN Aerospace’s number one priority. As we evolve and grow, so too must our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our workplace. Our goal is zero preventable accidents. To support this we have a GKN Aerospace-developed and globally applied behavioural safety programme, our Golden Safety Rules, a comprehensive set of ‘Zero Tolerance’ Rules designed to target our most critical risks, whilst driving safe behaviours, accountability and continuous improvement.
