GKN Aerospace Luton operates an icing wind tunnel for aircraft sensor qualification, ice protection systems development, analytical model validation, pre-qualification evaluation of aircraft ice protection system critical surfaces and coatings and full-scale engine model ice accretion characterisation.

The icing wind tunnel is situated at GKN Aerospace Luton in the UK, built to a design conceived by our highly experienced icing wind tunnel team, drawing upon many years of work in the field of in-flight icing phenomena and icing wind tunnel testing. Our facilities and experience are available to our customers for ice protection system and sensor development, qualification and icing research collaboration.
