Supporting our people

Supporting our people’s wellbeing, health and safety is central to how we work. When people feel safe and supported, they are better placed to perform at their best, collaborate and grow. Our approach is intentionally holistic, covering mental, physical, financial, social and career wellbeing, and we weave these principles through our culture, policies and people practices.

Feel heard and valued

We also recognise the close connection between wellbeing, psychological safety and inclusion. Feeling heard and valued matters just as much as access to support. Our wellbeing insight tools help us understand how people feel at work and where we can continue to improve.

Encourage open conversations

To build awareness and confidence, we provide training, guidance and practical resources for our people and managers, along with early support through trained colleagues across the business. We encourage open conversations about wellbeing and equip teams with prompts and tools to help them do this in a way that feels natural and supportive.

Flexible working options

Wellbeing runs throughout the entire employee experience, from recruitment and onboarding through to development and progression. Opportunities to learn, stretch and build a career play a meaningful role in mental health, which is why development is accessible to everyone. Flexible working options and thoughtful shift planning also help people balance work with their wider responsibilities.

Access support

Alongside this, we communicate regularly about wellbeing and make sure people can access support when and how they need it, whether that’s through practical resources, professional advice or locally tailored activities in our sites and teams.
