Our high clarity transparency technologies are enabling the View from Artemis II

View from Artemis II. Looking Back at Earth

As NASA’s Artemis II mission continues its historic journey around the Moon, Commander Reid Wiseman shared a description of the view back toward Earth during a livestream from space. “Spectacular… from pole to pole, you could see Africa, Europe, and if you looked really close, you could see the northern lights. It was the most spectacular moment, and it paused all four of us in our tracks,” he said. [abcnews.com]

At GKN Aerospace, we are proud that our advanced transparency materials, Acrivue™ 350 acrylic combined with our CrystalVue™ protective coating, help support that remarkable view back to Earth and into deep space. These materials form part of the system that enables such powerful moments of human space exploration.

Our high clarity transparency technologies are engineered to be strong, lightweight, and reliable, qualities essential to human spaceflight. The Orion spacecraft depends on transparency solutions that are pressure bearing, crew rated, and flight proven, designed to withstand the forces of launch, the vacuum and cold of deep space, and the heat of re entry.

As Artemis II continues its mission, we are delighted to play a part in this new chapter of exploration, enabling the view while supporting clarity, safety, and inspiration on humanity’s journey to the Moon and back.
