GKN Aerospace has joined with a consortium of significant UK industrial, technology and engineering businesses from across the aerospace, automotive and medical sectors, to come together to produce medical ventilators for the UK.
A group of committed GKN Aerospace employees are working hard, across the company, to ramp up the UK’s supply of ventilators. Around 350 of our people are supporting the UKVentilatorChallenge. In less than one month they’ve been able to create new assembly lines in Luton and Cowes.
In total, the consortium will deliver more than 20,000 ventilators to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). Working together with a wide cross-section of UK businesses will help save lives. It represents the very best of British industry and GKN Aerospace is proud to be part of this collective effort.
Here, we meet Russ Dunn, CTO and Head of Strategy of GKN Aerospace to talk about our work and our experience on the challenge, and why GKN Aerospace, as an industry leader for more than 250 years, is determined to play a part in helping turn the tide against Covid-19.
