Experience
Matthew is a seasoned CFO, with executive leadership experience across  several complex, LSE-listed manufacturing and transportation businesses.  Matthew has strong strategic and operational expertise, including driving strategy and delivering operational improvements. He has extensive international experience, including M&A and corporate development.   

Matthew qualified as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young, working in London and Milan.  His early career was spent at the manufacturing and distribution division of the Rank Group plc, where he was responsible for financial and commercial operations, as well as introducing new technologies and restructuring legacy business.   He then spent 12 years at Essentra Plc, a global manufacturing company, where he became group CFO and delivered outstanding financial performance and inorganic growth. More recently he was group CFO at FirstGroup Plc, a transportation services company, where Matthew drove a business turnaround before stepping up as CEO to deliver a strategic transformation through the sale of its North America operations.  Matthew has an outstanding track record of delivering value and building strong Finance teams.
